Step 1 – Download Kompozer
The first tool you’ll need is Kompozer. This is a free HTML editor that you can use to create your landing pages, sales pages, thank you pages etc. There are more sophisticated paid tools like DreamWeaver, ClickFunnels and OptimizePress, but if you want to create basic conversion-focused sales letters with text on white backgrounds, add images and videos, then Kompozer will do the job. My recommendation is you should make sales with the free tools available, then upgrade to more advance tools as your business grows and you become more skilled.

Step 2 – Download Filezilla
Next you’ll need Filezilla. Filezilla is a free piece of software that allows you to transfer your website files to your server so visitors can see your website live on the internet. You can edit files online through your webhost, but it’s much easier and quicker to access everything from a desktop app. You’ll need your IP address, username and password in order to connect to your server. This will be provided by your webhost.

Step 3 – Get a PayPal Account
Next you’ll need a PayPal business account. This will allow you to create payment buttons and place them on your website so you can collect payments online. You can use other payment processors and shopping carts like ClickBank, Stripe with Zaxaa, Payoneer with JVZoo and so on… but the transaction fees are usually higher and there’s more steps in the setup process. So we’ll stick with PayPal for now, and when you get good at selling products, you can check out the other systems in your own time.

Step 4 – Get Hosting and Domain Name
Next you’ll need webhosting and a domain name. When choosing a domain, register a short and catchy domain ideally with dot .com extension. Make it easy for people to remember and easy for them to type on their phone. Everything should cost no more than $20 a month – depending on the bells and whistles you want to add. We have tested a few hosting providers over the years and have found Hostgator to provide the fastest load times, most user-friendly cPanel, and reliable customer service. If you ever have any issues, just contact their support through the web chat and they’ll sort it out quickly for you.

Step 5 – Get Autoresponder Account
Next up, you’ll need an autoresponder account. The purpose of your autoresponder is to build a massive database of subscribers that you can send emails out anytime you want. You’re essentially ‘saving’ your traffic and collecting the contact details of your visitors so you can sell a variety of products to them. It’s also an integral part of the system as it adds automation to your sales funnel. I’ve peronally been using Aweber since 2008 and they have been reliable ever since and their interface is very easy to use. So I will recommend you use Aweber to build your list, and send out emails. You can setup a free account which will allow you to add up to 500 leads. After that it’s $19 a month, however you should be able to start making sales with just the free account and recover your costs easily as you grow your email list.

What Next?…
You may be thinking about using only free options but keep this in mind… you get what you pay for. Usually free hosting and autoresponders limit what you can and can’t do, and most likely will place adverts on your site in order to cover the cost of the free services they offer. Not only does it make you look unprofessional but it can distract your customers from buying your products. So I don’t recommend it.
